India has celebrated its 77th Independence Day on August 15. In 2023, India has marked 76 years of freedom from British colonial rule - a significant milestone for the country. Independence Day is celebrated with pomp across the nation and Indians around the globe. It is a reminder of the struggles that won us our liberation from the British Raj after nearly two centuries, the sacrifices made by the leaders, the freedom fighters who laid their lives to win Independence, and more. This year, the theme for Independence Day was "Nation First, Always First". All Independence Day programmes and events were based on this theme.
The Govt. Girls’ Higher Secondary School Tangdar celebrated the 77th Independence Day with great pomp and grandeur. All the teachers and students assembled in the school premises at 9 a.m. The Principal, Mr. Shafeeq Ahmad Chak was honored as the chief guest of the program. He was welcomed with flowers. The chief guest hoisted the National Flag. As soon as the flag was hoisted, everyone sang the National Anthem.
After hoisting the tri-colour, worthy principal the chief guest of the program, delivered a long speech in the light of India's independence. Indian History from Battle of Plassy 1757 to Indian independence act 1947 was recounted by worthy principal including all remarkable dates like revolt 1857, Indian National Congress 1885 , Gandhi 's Non-cooperation movement , satyagrah , chauri chora incident ,etc. In addition to this, the worthy principal threw light on the progress and development made by India post 1947 in the field of Education, space science ,Medical science ,Rocket science ,nuclear science or any other fields.
After the speech by chief guest, a stage was set for the cultural programs. The stage was decorated with flowers, festoons, and tricolor flags. Various cultural programs were arranged to commemorate the auspicious day. The students sang the Patriotic songs in their melodious voices. The students stole the show with their cultural performances, which included traditional dances and captivating skits. Preparation for these remarkable performances by the students were underway for the past week, with students investing time and energy to perform on eve of the Independence Day. Their hard work paid off as they took the stage and left an indelible mark on the hearts of audience.
At the culmination of this ceremony, prizes were distributed among the students who participated in different Cultural activities. The ceremony concluded with Vote of thanks by Senior Lecturer Imtiyaz Alam Qureshi. Mr. Qureshi thanked all the staff members who left no stone unturned to make this program successful.
